Letting people self register Print E-mail

By default, your Mambo site is set up so that you have to grant people access to your site. If you wish, you can allow users to self register by logging in with their ONYEN on the front page login box. This will automatically place them in the "Registered Users" group.

IMPORTANT: You will want to review your site to see what registered users can access before you allow this. Check the module settings in the Module Manager (accessed via the back-end administration pages under the Modules -> Site Modules menu) as well as the menu and content items that you may not want everyone to see. You may want to change the permissions on things like the User Menu module to "special", which require someone to at least be an author in order to see that menu.

To enable self registration, you must be a Super Administrator. Log-in to the site administration tool linked off of the user menu you see when you login to your site. Click on "global configuration" in the control panel. In the Site Administration tab, click "yes" next to "Allow user registration". Click Save in the upper right of the page.

Now when someone self registers they will automatically appear in the User Manager and you can change their group if you want to allow them to do more in your site.
